ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Aug, 2026) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, stated on Saturday that eight officials, including the Executive Director (ED) of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Deputy Executive Director, doctors and other concerned officers and officials, had been suspended following the initial findings into the hospital fire incident.

Speaking to a private television channel, the minister said the suspensions were made in light of recommendations made by inquiry committee.

He clarified that action would not be limited to suspensions, adding that further steps would be initiated under criminal proceedings to prevent such incidents in the future.

Responding to a question, Dr Fazal said the incident was primarily the result of negligence on the part of hospital administration and staff, who had failed to identify and address a fault in the nursery.
