KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Sep, 2026) Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed the relevant civic authorities to accelerate development, road rehabilitation and beautification projects in the Red Zone and adjoining areas, ensuring their completion within the stipulated timelines.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting attended by Deputy Commissioners South Javed Nabi Khoso and East Nasrullah Abbasi, Municipal Commissioner Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Abrar Jaffar, Director Development Naseem Bhutto, officials of Town Municipal Administrations and other concerned departments.

The meeting reviewed progress on projects being executed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), TMAs, Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation.

Officials informed the commissioner that the ongoing schemes had achieved 75 per cent physical and 64 per cent financial progress, with road carpeting, rehabilitation, horticulture and beautification work underway at several locations.

The meeting was told that the beautification and development work at Kabootar Chowrangi would be completed this month, while carpeting of three major roads—Shahrah-e-Kamal Ataturk, Court Road and Strachan Road—was targeted for completion within the next 10 days. Work on Court Road and the remaining sections would begin after the completion of carpeting on Shahrah-e-Kamal Ataturk.

Commissioner Naqvi also ordered immediate steps to improve cleanliness around the National Museum, remove accumulated debris and enhance the condition of Burns Garden. Officials said debris removal from the museum premises had already begun, while work was also being undertaken to improve the portion of Burns Garden adjoining Strachan Road.

He directed the preparation of a detailed chart showing the physical and financial progress of all projects, expenditures incurred and photographic evidence of completed work. The information, he said, would help formulate recommendations on financial constraints for submission to the Sindh chief secretary.

Reviewing the development of Kabootar Chowrangi, officials briefed the meeting that a design for the roundabout featuring greenery and a central monument had been prepared and approved by the Sindh government.

The commissioner also took notice of workshops and other encroachments along the road from Kabootar Chowrangi towards Burns Road and directed the deputy commissioners and TMA officials to remove them on a priority basis. He observed that roadside workshops were obstructing traffic and pedestrian movement while also damaging the cleanliness and appearance of the area.

Naqvi ordered the authorities to complete the required legal action and determine the future use of the cleared space. A proposal was discussed to develop parking facilities, footpaths, street lighting and a pedestrian walkway, which would help eliminate roadside parking on Burns Road and improve the overall appearance of the area.

The meeting decided that the KMC and TMAs, in coordination with the district administration, would prepare a comprehensive plan and take necessary measures for its implementation.
