LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Sep, 2026) Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that the government should support the farmers who cultivate dates and it will earn the country precious foreign exchange.

Speaking a the Dates Festival under the auspices of the Organic Village DHA here on Monday, he hailed the fact that more than 100 varieties of dates were on display at the festival.

The Governor visited various stalls of dates cultivated in the country. A large number of citizens, including overseas Pakistanis, attended the Dates Festival.

Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that Pakistan is the best date producing country and all types of dates are found here. He said that Pakistani dates are of world class and need the best packaging to export them.

He said that Pakistani dates are second to none in terms of taste. He said that investment can be increased through exports of domestic dates.

The Punjab Governor said that with a little attention from the government, local date production can be improved. He said, "Instead of looking at the government or anyone else, we should do what we can for the betterment of the country."

He said that PPP always supports farmers and cultivators at every level, adding that the government should take concrete steps to solve the problems faced by farmers.

He urged overseas Pakistanis to buy Pakistani products.
