ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) The occupied land of sub-sector G-14/1 will be fully vacated once the issues involving affected persons and built-up properties are resolved, Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada told the Senate on Tuesday.

Replying to a question from Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan, the minister said the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) was actively pursuing the matter through negotiations with affectees and other lawful measures while safeguarding the rights and interests of bona fide allottees.

In a written reply, he said that out of 580 legal built-up properties (BUPs), cases involving 419 had been finalised and awards announced. Compensation had been paid for 199 structures, which had subsequently been demolished.

The remaining owners of 161 BUPs had not allowed the mandatory assessment required for issuance of awards, he added.

The FGEHA was negotiating with them, and compensation would be paid to eligible affectees after completion of the required assessment and legal or codal formalities, the minister said.

He said the tender for development works in sub-sector G-14/1 was initially floated on June 22, 2023, but was annulled on November 16, 2023, due to non-possession of the land.

The tender was floated again on August 9, 2024, but was rejected by the competent authority due to abnormally high and unreasonable rates. Currently, tender documents were being prepared and would be floated in accordance with PPRA rules, he added.

The minister said the occupied land of G-14/1 had not yet been fully vacated due to issues related to the demolition of BUPs. The sub-sector currently contains 1,129 BUPs, including 580 legal and 549 illegal structures.

He identified the presence of 549 illegal structures as one of the major factors hindering the vacation of land required for development. These structures were also encouraging other occupants and affectees to resist vacating the required land, he added.

He said some affectees, despite the announcement of compensation awards, were unwilling to receive the awarded compensation and vacate the acquired land.

Pending litigation and unresolved encroachment-related issues were also delaying the process of securing vacant possession of the land, he added.
