ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Sep, 2026) Torrential rain inundated several low-lying areas of the Federal capital on Tuesday, with nullahs overflowing in E-11 and Ghouri Town and water entering roads and some building basements, while the Rawal Dam’s spillways were scheduled to be opened at 2pm as its water level reached 1,751.90 feet.

CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon visited rain-affected areas to review drainage operations, while teams from the CDA, MCI, district administration and emergency services were deployed with de-watering machinery to clear accumulated water and maintain traffic flow.

The district administration said 150mm of rain was recorded in E-11, where an overflowing nullah caused water to enter a road and some basements. The affected basements had already been sealed by the administration.
