Carlos Alcaraz Stands Between American Stars and US Open Glory

Carlos Alcaraz is set to challenge a triad of American tennis stars at the US Open. The Spanish superstar faces Ben Shelton in a blockbuster quarter-final clash at Flushing Meadows.

Should Alcaraz defeat the eighth seed, he will confront either Frances Tiafoe or Alex Michelsen in the semi-finals. This tough draw means Alcaraz could single-handedly eliminate all remaining home contenders.

The Search for the First Home Champion Since 2003

American tennis fans have waited over two decades for a homegrown men's singles champion. Andy Roddick remains the last American man to lift the trophy, having won back in 2003.

• Ben Shelton: Seeking his second US Open semi-final appearance.
• Frances Tiafoe: Aiming for his first Grand Slam final after strong summer performances.
• Alex Michelsen: Looking to create a major upset in the late tournament stages.

Battling the Arthur Ashe Stadium Crowd

Alcaraz acknowledges the immense pressure of playing against 24,000 passionate New York fans supporting Shelton and his countrymen.

"I think he will use the crowd, the people behind him, especially when he's playing here at home," Alcaraz stated, as reported by BBC News.

If Shelton or Tiafoe manage to overcome Alcaraz, an American player is guaranteed a spot in the final, keeping the host nation's championship dreams alive.
