MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Sep, 2026) Newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Professor Dr. Anwar Khattab, has said concerted efforts are under way to transform the varsity into a modern educational and research institution of international standards. In an informal interaction with senior Kashmiri journalists on Tuesday, including Kashmir Press Club President Syed Abid Hussain Shah and Altaf Hamid Rao, at his office, the Vice Chancellor said making MUST one of the country's leading institutions in education, research and modern technology was among his top priorities.

Professor Dr. Anwar Khattab said academic activities at the university had been affected by strikes and protests in recent times, resulting in academic losses for students. However, he said the commitment, hard work and cooperation of faculty members and students had helped largely overcome the losses. The administration, he added, was taking all possible measures to ensure that students' education and examinations were not disrupted further and that academic activities continued smoothly.

The Vice Chancellor said arrangements were being made to hold examinations in Poonch for students from the area who were unable to travel to Mirpur due to prevailing circumstances, with the aim of ensuring that no student's academic year was wasted.

He said practical measures were also being taken to provide maximum facilities to students and resolve their problems promptly. He announced that junior classes at MUST would commence from September 21, with all necessary arrangements being finalized for the smooth start of the new academic session.

Professor Dr. Anwar Khattab said development of a university was not merely about buildings and infrastructure but about ensuring quality education, promoting modern research, enhancing students' capabilities and raising the institution's profile at the international level. He termed teachers and students the real assets of any educational institution and appreciated their dedication during difficult circumstances. Expressing his resolve to steer MUST towards further progress through discipline, cooperation and hard work, he said every possible effort would be made to establish the university as a distinguished educational and research institution in AJK and Pakistan and bring it in line with international standards.
