KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Sep, 2026) Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said Pakistan’s large young population represents a major opportunity for the country, describing its youth as the country’s most important potential export.

Addressing the first batch of successful candidates of the CCTE Modern Sino-Pak Dual-Diploma Joint Technical Education Programme at Nazeer Hussain University on Saturday, he said around 150 million people in Pakistan were currently below the age of 30.

The federal minister said many countries around the world needed young people to fill jobs in various sectors, adding that Pakistan could prepare and send its skilled youth to meet this demand.

He also highlighted the challenges facing educated young people, particularly women.

Referring to medical education, he said around 80 out of every 90 female medical graduates remained at home after completing their studies.

Describing the situation as a growing concern, Siddiqui said the country was moving rapidly towards a crisis and stressed the need to align education with changing requirements in the global job market.

He said both education and the means of acquiring it had changed significantly around the world, making practical skills and professional expertise increasingly important.

The minister noted that women accounted for nine of every 12 PhD graduates in Pakistani universities, highlighting their growing participation in higher education.

He further said around 100 universities worldwide had relaxed degree prerequisites and were placing greater emphasis on practical techniques, expertise and skills.

Siddiqui also observed that Pakistan’s economy was currently heavily dependent on remittances, underscoring the importance of developing a skilled workforce capable of competing in international labour markets.

Chancellor Farhat M Khan and Vice Chancellor Masroor Ahmed Shaikh of Nazeer Hussain University also addressed the ceremony.
