FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Aug, 2026) Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo on Saturday directed the Faisalabad administration to accelerate public welfare initiatives, tighten civic services and enforce safety and regulatory measures.

He particularly ordered for completion of fire-safety arrangements at government hospitals by the prescribed deadline and urged the officials to ensure that development programs translate into visible relief for citizens.

The Additional Chief Secretary visited Faisalabad and presided over a high-level meeting at Commissioner’s Office where Divisional Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh briefed him about the implementation of various initiatives and public welfare programs being executed in the division in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.

Deputy Commissioners of all four districts of the division and divisional heads of various departments attended the meeting.

The divisional commissioner gave a detailed briefing on the Suthra Punjab Program, provision of clean drinking water, ‘Apna Khet Apna Rozgar’, ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’, ‘Ideal Village Program’, fire-safety measures in government hospitals, development programs, PULSE Project, WASA sewerage and water-supply schemes, complaint management system, adoption of e-FOS, e-Biz services, anti-encroachment operations, anti-quackery campaign, good governance initiatives, parking plazas and beautification projects, among other measures.

Iftikhar Ali Sahoo appreciated the performance of the Faisalabad divisional administration under the leadership of the commissioner for effective implementation of public welfare initiatives.

He said that the Suthra Punjab Program was a flagship initiative of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, adding that the Faisalabad administration was taking all possible measures to provide citizens with a clean and healthy environment.

The Additional Chief Secretary stressed that public awareness must go hand in hand with efforts to bring about a lasting change in social behavior and ensure sustainability of the cleanliness system.

He welcomed the establishment of an anti-littering squad and said collective responsibility was essential for maintaining cleanliness in cities.

Regarding provision of clean drinking water, he directed the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority to ensure that all installed water filtration plants remained fully operational. He made it clear that reports portraying an "all is well" situation without ensuring actual functionality would not be acceptable.

He also called for further integration of the outsourced system and directed its representatives at the district level to maintain effective coordination with the respective deputy commissioners.

Discussing the ‘Apna Khet Apna Rozgar’ program, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo termed it an important initiative for enabling unemployed people to earn a livelihood.

He said that successful applicants receiving plots in the next season would cultivate wheat on the allotted land, stressing that soil as well as water analysis should therefore be completed well in time.

The Additional Chief Secretary also sought a briefing on the procedure for submitting applications under the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ Program and directed officials to facilitate eligible citizens in understanding and completing the application process.

Regarding the Ideal Village Program, he instructed deputy commissioners to assign clear tasks to ensure 100 per cent provision of municipal services to rural residents under the initiative.

Iftikhar Ali Sahoo declared completion of fire-safety arrangements in government hospitals a priority and said that September 04, 2026 had been fixed as the deadline for installation of fire hydrants in hospitals.

He directed the concerned authorities to ensure completion of the required arrangements within the stipulated timeframe.

He ordered that the anti-encroachment operation be continued with full legal authority and stressed that permanent structures removed during the drive must not be allowed to reappear.

He directed that those involved in rebuilding illegal permanent encroachments should be fined in accordance with the law.

The Additional Chief Secretary appreciated the move towards adoption of the e-FOS system, directing that services already shifted to the e-Biz platform should no longer be processed manually.

He asked officials to encourage applicants to use the e-Biz platform for services that had been digitized.

He also appreciated the ongoing beautification projects but emphasized that provision of essential municipal services to citizens should remain the foremost priority.

Iftikhar Ali Sahoo called for continued adherence to austerity measures and directed officials to maintain field activities aimed at resolving public complaints swiftly.

He stressed that officials should adopt a courteous attitude towards people visiting government offices as well as citizens encountered during field visits.

He directed officials to resolve their genuine problems and obtain feedback afterwards so that public confidence in government departments could be further strengthened.

He urged government officers and officials to perform their duties with the same spirit, dedication and hard work, making effective public service their foremost mission.

During his Faisalabad visit, the Additional Chief Secretary also inspected Allied Hospital-I and other sites to review ongoing arrangements and public service facilities.
