ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Aug, 2026) Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas during Tuesday.

While hot and humid weather is expected in other plain areas of the country.

According to the weather forecast, partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad and its adjoining areas, with isolated heavy rainfall also likely. The probability of rainfall in Islamabad has been forecast at 60 percent.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Buner, Nowshera, Peshawar, Swabi, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Malakand, Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur, Kohat, Parachinar and adjoining areas, with isolated heavy falls also expected.

In Punjab, most districts are likely to experience hot and humid weather. However, partly cloudy conditions with rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat and adjoining areas, where isolated heavy rainfall is also possible.

Most districts of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and humid, while partly cloudy conditions are likely in coastal areas.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to experience partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms at isolated places, with heavy rainfall also possible.

The Met Office warned that moderate to heavy rainfall during Tuesday (September 1) may trigger landslides in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Murree, Galiyat, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

It also warned that heavy rainfall may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Gujrat during the forecast period.

During the last 24 hours, weather remained hot and humid over most parts of the country. However, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Islamabad, the Pothohar region, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The highest rainfall was recorded in Rawalpindi, where New Kattarian received 45 mm, Chaklala Airport 38 mm, Katcheri 31 mm, and Pirwadhai 21 mm. Islamabad's Golra received 25 mm, while Gujrat also recorded 25 mm. Muzaffarabad Airport received 27 mm, Muzaffarabad city 18 mm and Garhi Dopatta 13 mm. Malam Jabba recorded 25 mm, while Upper Dir received 22 mm and Kalam 7 mm.

The highest maximum temperatures were recorded at Dalbandin and Nokkundi at 43C, followed by Dadu at 42C.

The minimum and maximum temperatures recorded in major cities were: Islamabad 24/33C, Lahore 29/37°C, Karachi 26/30C, Peshawar 27/36C, Quetta 18/37C, Gilgit 20/37C, Muzaffarabad 22/34C, Skardu 15/33C, Murree 15/23C, Faisalabad 29/38C and Multan 27/36C.
