preventing crime, tracing suspects and improving traffic management, as more

than 400 surveillance cameras installed at major intersections and important locations

across the city.

Talking to APP, Safe City Multan Inspector Muhammad Naveed said the surveillance

network was providing substantial assistance in monitoring criminal elements and

tracing suspects involved in various incidents. He added that the Safe City system

also played an important role in ensuring a prompt response from relevant departments

whenever emergency calls were received through the Rescue 15 service.

Regarding traffic management, Muhammad Naveed said traffic violations were being

identified through surveillance cameras and challans were issued in accordance with

the prescribed procedure. The system, he added, was helping improve compliance

with traffic laws and promoting better traffic discipline in the city.

He further said that a blood donation wing was also functioning under the safe city

initiative. Whenever a call regarding an urgent requirement for blood was received

through 15, registered blood donors were contacted to facilitate the provision of blood

to patients in need.

The inspector said more than 20 panic buttons had been installed at different locations

across the city. In an emergency, citizens could press a panic button to establish contact

with the Safe City Control Room, particularly when a mobile phone was not available.

The control room would then immediately alert the relevant departments to provide

assistance.

Muhammad Naveed said the Safe City initiative was also contributing to the arrest

of proclaimed and wanted offenders, as well as the tracing and recovery of missing

children, through its extensive surveillance network.

He said Safe City Multan was actively contributing to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister

Maryam Nawaz Sharif for providing citizens with a safe and secure environment.
