HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Sep, 2026) District Health Officer Shaheed Benazirabad, Dr. Mudassar Hussain Domki, has refuted the news circulating on social media regarding two suspected polio cases reported from Rahimoo Keerio, Union Council Marvi, Taluka Sakrand.

He clarified that a health department investigation team conducted detailed medical and neurological examination and found that both the cases of children were neither related to Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP).

According to Health Department, after reports of two suspected polio cases in children surfaced on social media on 23 August 2026, an investigation team visited the area on 24 August 2026. The team conducted a detailed investigation under the WHO AFP Questionnaire, including active case finding, interviews with family members, medical examination and neurological assessment.

During the investigation, the case of three-month-old Shah Zaman, son of Imtiaz Solangi, was examined. The child was found to have a congenital heart condition (VSD) and an inward turning of the left foot. The condition was diagnosed as a congenital orthopaedic condition (Talipes).

His neurological examination was normal, and no signs of AFP were found.

In the second case, six-year-old Ahsan, son of Dhani Bakhsh Solangi, had muscle contracture and difficulty in walking due to a previous burn injury. His neurological examination was also found to be normal, with no signs of AFP.

According to the District Health Officer, following a detailed field investigation and comprehensive medical and neurological examinations, both cases were declared unrelated to AFP and were subsequently excluded from the list of suspected polio cases.

Health Department stated that the relevant authorities remain fully active in polio surveillance, routine immunization, public awareness and timely investigation of all suspected AFP cases.

District Health Officer also appealed media houses and social media platforms to verify facts from the relevant health authorities before broadcasting or sharing information that may create concern or misunderstanding among the public.
