ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Sep, 2026) Officers participating in the 47th Mid-Career Management Course of the National Institute of Management (NIM), Islamabad, visited the divisional headquarters here and were briefed on governance, development projects, public service delivery and tourism initiatives in Hazara Division.

Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram welcomed the visiting officers on behalf of the Commissioner Hazara Division and gave them a detailed briefing on the geographical features of Hazara, performance of various government departments, health and education services, revenue services, one-window operations and computerization of land records.

The briefing covered major development projects in the region, including the Dasu Hydro-power Project, Diamer-Bhasha Dam, Suki Kinari and Balakot hydropower projects.

The visiting officers were also briefed on initiatives under the City Improvement Project, including provision of clean drinking water, solid waste management, pedestrian pathways in markets, improvement of urban infrastructure and other uplift measures.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted measures for promotion of tourism, widening of Thandiani Road and development of new tourism opportunities. He also briefed the participants about action against illegal housing societies, enforcement of approved building plans, prevention of illegal mining, protection of forests and measures to control unplanned construction.

The participants were informed about the declining groundwater level and steps being taken to ensure sustainable availability of clean drinking water in the future.

The briefing also covered measures taken to prevent urban flooding during recent rains, the impact of population growth on infrastructure, improvements in housing society regulations and the overall performance of government departments across Hazara Division.
