The President also privately chartered the aircraft and personally covered expenses for its crew, parking, accommodation and other related costs, the President House spokesperson clarified.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Sep, 2026) The spokesperson for the President’s House has clarified that President Asif Zardari’s private foreign visit was funded entirely from his personal resources.
According to a statement posted by the President’s House on X, the spokesperson said the recent foreign visit was wholly private and that all expenses were personally borne by President Asif Ali Zardari.
According to the spokesperson, the president also privately chartered an aircraft for the visit.
All aircraft-related expenses, including those for the crew, parking and accommodation, as well as other associated costs, were paid by the president from his own pocket. Meanwhile, a major debate is also underway over the expenses of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s private visit to London.
In her response on X, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said she had already stated, as information minister and with full responsibility, that the chief minister would pay all expenses herself.
She said political orphans and “U-tumors” had been busy “eating dollars” over the chief minister’s London visit for several days. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had made it clear before departing for London that she would bear all expenses of the visit herself.
However, even before she returned home from London, those fond of criticism began spreading propaganda without knowing the facts. The expenses would have been estimated and paid after the visit concluded.
Everything in the government system is handled according to legal rules and procedures: an estimate is prepared and payment is made through a challan. It is not EasyPaisa or JazzCash, where the account can be presented at the press of a button before the journey has even ended.
The visit had not yet been completed when the propaganda began. Those who themselves squandered billions of rupees from the national exchequer on luxuries are now putting on a cheap act of pretending to be blameless, she said.
Those whose own reputations are covered in stains of corruption should be ashamed of making allegations against others, even half-asleep. Get ready once again to face embarrassment and humiliation—just wait a little longer, she added.
